We collect the following information when you use ActuaryPractice.com:

Account information: name, email address, and username when you create an account
Payment information: processed securely through Stripe. We do not store credit card numbers.
Study progress: flashcard status, exam scores, study streaks, and readiness metrics
Device identifier: a unique device ID stored locally for Lifetime plan device verification

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

Provide and maintain the Service
Track your study progress and calculate readiness scores
Process payments and manage subscriptions
Send transactional emails (account confirmation, password resets, receipts)
Send educational drip emails (which you can unsubscribe from at any time)
Enforce single-device restrictions for Lifetime plans

3. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services:

Stripe: for payment processing. See Stripe's privacy policy at stripe.com/privacy.
Resend: for transactional email delivery from @certinhq.com addresses.
Cloudflare Turnstile: for bot protection during login and registration. This is not a tracking service.

We do not use Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, or any other third-party tracking or advertising services. We do not sell or share your personal information with advertisers.

4. Cookies and Local Storage

We use essential cookies for authentication (session management via NextAuth). We use browser localStorage to store your device identifier for Lifetime plan verification and your SOA/CAS path preference. We do not use tracking cookies or advertising cookies.

5. Data Retention

We retain your account and study progress data for as long as your account is active. If you request account deletion, we will remove your personal data within 30 days. Anonymized, aggregate usage statistics may be retained indefinitely.

6. Data Security

We implement appropriate security measures to protect your information. Passwords are hashed using bcrypt with a cost factor of 12. All data transmission is encrypted via HTTPS/TLS. Payment processing is handled entirely by Stripe's PCI-compliant infrastructure.

7. Your Rights

You have the right to:

Access the personal data we hold about you
Request correction of inaccurate data
Request deletion of your account and associated data
Unsubscribe from marketing emails at any time
Export your study progress data

8. Geographic Restrictions

ActuaryPractice.com is intended for users in the United States. Access from outside the US may be restricted.

9. Children's Privacy

The Service is not intended for children under 16. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 16. If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under 16, we will delete it promptly.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify registered users of material changes via email. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page indicates when the policy was last revised.
